Poznań Pride Week is the second biggest LGBT+ event in Poland after the Warsaw Pride Parade.

Since 2015 we have organised five editions of the festival and every year it has gathered more and more participants. Since the very beginning our guiding principle has been organising an event attractive for both the LGBT+ community as well as other people who live in the city and region. The event has become an integral element of the cultural map of Poznań and has received support from the city management.

Poznań Pride Week 2019

Traditionally, Poznań Pride Week culminates in the Equality March in Poznań which is attended by a record number of people each year. In 2019, as many as 13,000 people marched the streets of Poznań. In 2015, mayor Jacek Jaśkowiak attended the March – it was the first time when the March was attended by a mayor of a Polish city currently in office. In 2016, the March was accompanied by rainbow flags decorating street lights – also for the first time in Poland. In 2020, the Equality March had to be cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Cultural events are an important part of the festival. Every year together with Tongariro, we organise a series of movie screenings in local arts cinemas. We also cooperate with theatres – stage productions in Teatr Polski and Teatr Ósmego Dnia are a part of the Poznań Pride Week programme. We invited to Poznań actors from the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin who presented a guest performance of one of their productions.

We also organise concerts. In 2015, the singer Michał Kwiatkowski was one of the performers in the OFF Garbary space. Later in 2016, Teatr Polski in Poznań staged a music concert titled “Miłość – to niby takie proste” (“Love – seems so easy”).

We also support queer art by providing space for queer artists. The event Queer Night takes place every year in Poznań – in 2019 the guest star was Aja from RuPaul’s Drag Race. We also organise Vogue Ball events and invite Polish drag queens – both first-timers and seasoned performers.

Poznań Pride Week usually takes place in late June and early July.
